Careers

Take SAP® transformations safely live and AI agents into production with us – in a boutique that grows with every engagement.

Why Hentschel Consulting

What to expect

The engagements of a large consultancy, the closeness of a boutique: you work on some of Europe's largest SAP programs – and learn directly from the person who leads them.

  • Responsibility from day one

No pyramid, no waiting line: you take on your own workstreams early – with a direct line to the client's program leadership and management.

  • Learn from the founder

Every engagement is senior-led. You work directly with Rainer Hentschel – in the steering committee, at the dress rehearsal and on the go-live weekend. Feedback comes continuously, not once a year.

  • SAP and AI in one profile

You combine experience from large SAP programs with AI agents in day-to-day project work and in our own AI product hentschel.ai – a combination that is rare in the market.

  • Flexible where possible

Analysis and planning are often remote; workshops, dress rehearsals and go-live happen on site. We shape workload and model – employment or freelance – together with you.

Application process

Four steps, clear feedback

No assessment marathon: you talk to the person who decides from the very start. As a rule, you will have a decision within three to four weeks.

  1. 1

    Application

    Your CV is enough

Send us your CV, ideally with a project list or your LinkedIn profile. No cover letter needed – two sentences on your motivation are enough. You will hear back from us within a week.

  2. 2

    Getting to know each other

    45 minutes · video call

An open conversation with Rainer Hentschel about your experience, your goals and our engagements. Bring your questions – including the uncomfortable ones.

  3. 3

    Practice case

90 minutes · on site or video call

No brainteasers, but a case from real project work: bringing a troubled project back on track, safeguarding a go-live or designing an AI agent including evals. We care about how you think – not whether you know the model answer.

  4. 4

    Offer

    within one week

After the practice case you get a clear decision. If it's a yes, a concrete offer follows – with a plan for your first weeks on the engagement.

Frequently asked questions

What applicants want to know up front

At which level will I start?

That depends on your experience: as an associate straight after your degree, as a consultant with around two to four years, as a senior consultant with around four to six years and as a manager from around six years with leadership experience. We agree on your level together after the practice case.

Employment or freelance?

Associates join as employees of Hentschel Consulting GmbH. From consultant level onwards, freelancing in our network is also possible – we clarify which model suits you in the first conversation.

Do I have to meet every requirement?

No. If you bring the core and want to learn the rest, apply. Expertise can be built – attitude, curiosity and reliability are what you bring.

What do you look for in the selection?

Three things: how you structure problems, how you make decisions under pressure and how you deal with people – from key users to the board.

How do I prepare for the practice case?

Memorizing won't help. What helps is an example from your own work that you know well: a go-live, a migration or an agent in production – and what you would do differently today.

Where will I work and how much will I travel?

We are based in Beinwil am See, Switzerland. Where you work depends on the project phase: analysis and planning are often remote; workshops, dress rehearsals and go-live take place at the client's site in Switzerland, Germany and across Europe. We plan travel as early as possible.

Which languages do I need?

Our project languages are German and English. For the consulting roles we expect both at business-fluent level; in AI engineering, excellent English and good German are enough.

Do I need a Swiss work permit?

For employment in Switzerland, yes. Applications from Germany and the rest of Europe are welcome – we clarify together in the first conversation which model fits and what it requires.

What happens to my documents?

We treat your application confidentially and use your data exclusively for the application process.
